I also found the time to write a new song for subscribers to my new Patreon ‘The Reptile House’. It’s about the menagerie of items that are hurtling down motorways as we sleep to fulfil next day delivery promises. Join today and as well as a new Gecko song each month you will get an extraordinarily classy membership badge depending on the tier you join at. (Leopard Gecko, Panther Chameleon and Komodo Dragon).
AUTUMN KIDS SHOWS
Me and poet Simon Mole will also be bringing The Great Big Bug Show to a select few venues this Autumn. It’s an interactive family show celebrating mini-beasts and all they do for our planet.

From the Gecko archive:
Continuing on from the baby theme last month let’s grow up just a little to the beginning of primary school. ‘A Whole Life’ (from my second album ‘Climbing Frame’) starts from a genuine memory I have of returning to my nursery after having left to go to primary school and giving what in my memory was a rousing motivational speech to the enraptured toddlers there. The song then continues to the end of both primary school and secondary. This has always been a nostalgic hit at live shows but what has also surprised me is seeing it resonate massively with 10 and 11 year olds on TikTok who are leaving Year 6 and already filled with longing for the simpler time that was…Year 5. Apparently the song has been used in Year 6 leaver’s assemblies!
And that is that,
Hope you have a wonderful rest of your summer
Lizard love
Your Gecko
